What is an ECG holter?
The dynamic electrocardiogram (commonly abbreviated to Holter ECG) is a particular type of electrocardiogram that allows cardiac activity to be recorded continuously and for several days. The Holter ECG device is light, waterproof (it is possible to take a shower) and allows accurate monitoring of cardiac activity for 24 consecutive hours. The dimensions and reduced weight allow the patient to wear the instrument comfortably during all daily activities, including sports. The medical report is always signed by a specialized cardiologist and will be available shortly after the device is returned. You can carry out the test by conveniently receiving the device at home, avoiding long waits in hospitals and then download the report safely from our site.
What is it for?
The Holter ECG allows you to highlight arrhythmias and other cardiovascular events that cannot be identified with a standard electrocardiogram, which has a recording time necessarily limited to a few tens of seconds; given that these events are often occasional and can occur in an unpredictable and unexpected way, the Holter ECG is able to record cardiac activities for an entire day.
Who is the exam recommended for?
People who experience or suspect alterations in the normal rhythm of the heart (tachycardia) or following a heart attack.
Carriers of pacemaker or defibrillator in order to evaluate its proper functioning.
People who often suffer from chest pain to make sure that there is no alteration of the path that may be compatible with the presence of coronary artery disease.
Those who wish to carry out a check on the effectiveness of antiarrhythmic therapy or certain pharmacological therapies.
