WHEN SHOULD I RECORD AN ECG WITH MY D-HEART
What is an ECG?
ECG is the abbreviation for electrocardiogram, a test that traces and records the electrical activity of the heart, displaying it on a moving paper or as a moving line on a screen. The ECG trace is one of the simplest, most widespread, and cost-effective methods for analyzing the heart and detecting any irregularities that could lead to serious health problems, such as stroke or heart attack. By analyzing an ECG, a doctor can obtain crucial information about the health and activity of the heart muscle, much more than can be inferred from just the heart rate, which is the main measure of wearable devices.
Why D-Heart can be important for me - Prevention
The risk of heart attack increases with age or due to family predisposition. If a heart attack is acute, help often arrives too late. It is essential to regularly monitor your heart to promptly identify any changes and address them quickly. This way, it is possible to prevent damage to the heart and protect it. Furthermore, the more trained the heart muscle is, the better the prevention of cardiovascular diseases will be. Frequent movements and exercises strengthen the heart. D-Heart is the ideal companion for monitoring heart health before and after exercise, giving you the peace of mind of knowing that your heart is doing well.
Why D-Heart can be important for me - Diagnosis
Do you suffer from intermittent or regular chest pain, or discomfort due to palpitations? Has your doctor or cardiologist been unable to provide you with a definitive diagnosis? This may be due to the delay between the onset of symptoms and when you visit the clinic. It is very difficult for the doctor to make an accurate diagnosis when the symptoms have subsided. The doctor can better determine the cause of the symptoms only if a reliable ECG is recorded while they are occurring. D-Heart, an easy-to-use hospital-grade ECG anytime and anywhere, could be the ideal solution for you. Only with a multi-lead hospital-grade ECG, like that of D-Heart, is it possible to accurately recognize complex arrhythmias or heart attacks.
Why D-Heart can be important for me - Monitoring
If you have already received treatment for your heart condition and wish to monitor your condition, D-Heart is the ideal solution for you. In fact, cardiologists recommend the use of smartphone ECG monitors to follow up with patients after specific treatments, such as atrial fibrillation ablation. If symptoms recur, there may be a possibility that the treatment was not completely effective. It is important to record an electrocardiogram when symptoms manifest, so that you can show it to your doctor and improve the treatment.
Remember that only with a multi-lead ECG, like D-Heart (8 leads), is it possible to recognize recurrences, complex arrhythmias, and even localized ones. Your cardiologist will always be just a click away!
I HAVE A PACEMAKER OR ICD. CAN I RECORD AN ECG WITH MY D-HEART?
The D-Heart portable ECG device has not been tested for accuracy in case of PM/ICD. We do not recommend the use of D-Heart for pacemaker patients because we cannot guarantee perfect ECG recordings due to possible background noise. However, consult your doctor for more information about using D-Heart with your pacemaker. There are no problems with your ICD: you can register a professional ECG with D-Heart.
DO I NEED A MOBILE NETWORK OR WI-FI TO RECORD AN ECG WITH MY D-HEART?
The D-Heart portable ECG devices do not require a Wi-Fi or mobile connection to record an ECG and save it on your phone or tablet. However, a connection is necessary to log in to the App, send results via email, or share them with the telecardiology service. If you do not have a Wi-Fi or mobile connection at the time of recording the ECG, you can send the data via email or print it later when you have a connection available.
HOW CAN I GET A CLEAR ECG SIGNAL WITH MY D-HEART?
1. Get ready
Sit in a chair near a table or relax comfortably on your bed. Uncover your chest and remove all clothes from the shoulders as well. If you have a lot of chest hair, consider shaving where the electrodes need to be placed.
2. Prepare your devices
Make sure your smartphone is at least 1.5 meters from your D-Heart device. Make sure all electrodes are inserted into the ends of the cables. Remove all protective films covering the electrodes.
3. Correctly place the electrodes on your chest
Place D-Heart in the center of the chest: make sure that the back electrodes adhere completely to the skin. Place each electrode in the specific position - make sure the electrodes adhere well to the skin.
4. During the recording make sure that both the patient and D-Heart remain still.
Movement during recordings will cause tracing disturbances. You can close your eyes, rest and relax. Your professional D-Heart ECG will be recorded instantly!
I KEEP RECORDING ECGs THAT LOOK DISTURBED, AND MY DOCTOR TELLS ME THEY ARE DIFFICULT TO READ. WHAT DOES IT MEAN AND HOW CAN I PREVENT THEM?
There are a few reasons why you may get noisy or unreadable recordings.
D-Heart communicates with your smartphone via Bluetooth with low energy range, it is important to keep the device a few meters from the smartphone/tablet. Here are some precautions to keep or suggestions to adopt:
1. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone or tablet;
2. Move away from sources of electrical interference such as large computer monitors or television screens;
3. Make sure all electrodes are attached to the ends of the cables. Remove all protective films covering the electrodes;
4. Place D-Heart in the center of the chest: make sure that the rear electrodes adhere completely to the bare chest;
5. Make sure you uncover the chest and remove all clothes from the shoulders as well;
6. If you have a lot of chest hair, consider shaving where the electrodes are placed;
7. Avoid moving during ECG acquisition and keep the device still. Any movements during the recordings can cause disturbances in the tracking;
8. Close your eyes, rest and relax. Your professional D-Heart ECG will be recorded instantly!
